Remember them

Today Ethan (5), Caleb (4), Mason (1) and Serena (1) and I went to Rememberance day memorial. This was really well put together and so beautifully done. Now yes kids being kids they did have some moments but were pretty well behaved. The soldiers stood so proud and why wouldn't they for all the past, present and future gave and will give for us. A helicopter flew over and dropped poppies from the sky as British and canadian soldiers joined together to lay wreaths. Simply beautiful.

I lost a close friend to me Colin in Afghanistan July 4th 2007, He was a Canadian soldier. I remember the day I met Colin he was so full of life and made everyone laugh always. He drove me an hour out of the town I lived to get icecream when I was upset and stood up for me if I was given grief well working in the bar. Colin always made me smile and I feel so lucky to have met him if only for a short time of our lives. Colin had a girlfriend Katrina and a daughter Vienna who was born 4 months prior. The pictures I see of V she is definatly taking on Daddy's cheeky looks as well as mommy's beauty. I pray for Colin, Vienna and Katrina every day and always think of the sacrifice they all made for me and my family.

Now last summer I met Lorna and felt a instant connection, this young bubbly lady, so soft spoken and kind instantly became a friend. Lorna has the worlds cutest little man william. Lorna had a story and I got the honor of hearing the scarifice her and her family made for us... Lorna's husband Christopher Roney a British soldier was killed in Afghan on December 22 2009, 5 months after Lorna gave birth to there amazing little boy. I thought this had to be impossible Lorna is so strong so pure and so kind, unfortunatly it is. I pray for Lorna and William as well and Thank Christopher everyday for what he has given and the sacrifice they all made.

Now I stand up for these woman, there little ones and the brave faces they have to put on every day. Thank you for what your men gave for us.

NOW I need my rant as I came home to see something that I am shocked, gob smacked just horrifid about. Muslim Extremist shouted to soldiers to burn in hell well the 2 minute silence went on in London. The police had to protect these animals as they disrespected and sickened many of us around the world. They burnt poppies and shouted abuse as families who have lost someone in war (past and Present) stood to remember. What has this world come to that they so freely get to do this. If this is the freedom that our men our dying for I don't want it. Something needs to change in the Uk for this is far from acceptable. We have stopped Santa in some malls and started saying happy holidays instead of Merry Christmas, You are not allowed to wear British shirts in bars in Uk, British soldiers are ENCOURAGED to take OFF there uniform before boarding planes, They are taught instead of to be proud to be embarassed for whot hey are. This is WRONG! For a Canadian this is hard to say but America has got this one so right and we need to learn fromt hem! free admission into parks for soldiers (examples are Bush Gardens, Sea world), You get priority on planes if you ARE in uniform, you get Thanked if seen in a uniform (first time I seen this I cried my eyes out), You get asked to rise and appluaded if you go to a show! Makes me wish I was an American as there pride is amazing.

So yes sorry for my rant but needed to be said, I feel sick with the way we are allowing others to treat us, I am sick of walking on egg shells and I am worried about my childrens future if this is our present! I want change............
