San Deigo, and Hollywood. The ups, the downs and the flat out truths (part 2)

Day 3 was spent at what I have heard is the world best zoo! and Ok maybe Im starting to sound ungrateful here but please know I loved this holiday every bit of it but need to be honest. San deigo zoo is nothing close to the best zoo in the world! The layout is bad, the prices for anytihng in the zoo are mental (got some tic tacs for $4.50), and most important the animal inclosures are WAY to small! Yes it was a nice visit though. The kids loved the bus tour that went on for 40 minutes and showed us the whole zoo, the sky tram was amazing too and though the petting zoo lacked animals to pet the kids still had fun. The zoo keepers were friendly and informative and the kids well behaved. We watched a sea lion show which was good as well and had a lot of time to play in the park (whoever said you can't do this park in a day lied, I did it with a 5,4, 1.5 year old AND a hubby!). After the zoo we headed to point Loma where we sat right next to the sea and ate fresh caught Crab tacos (or in my case Clam chowder) this was AMAZING. I wish I could remember the name of this place as I definatly recommend it! We went for a walk on the peir and met some really nice fishermen to got some WILD sealions to jump out of the water to grab fish from there hands and enjoyed the beauty of seeing these creatures in there true habitat!

Day 4 we had a beach day! We first stopped for beckie on the beach which was really yummy, the kids enjoyed coloring and then after breakfast enjoyed taunting the waves and eventually getting caught in them. I think this was my favorite day of the all actually, (funny the best things are the free things). We spent most the day building sand castles and relaxing by the beach before jumping into the car and heading to a cave at La jolla we went down 145 steps and through the cave to a pretty remarkable view, after that we walked along the sea where we saw surfers and loads of sea lions and even found another cave!

Day 5 and we were nowhere close to stopping! We let the kids do whatever they wanted (which was seaworld again). We let them lead everythign that day so enjoyed 2 shows a trip to the Polar bear, and Balgooga's tank and then most the day in Elmos world. we rode the rides and had a good old play. It was alot more relaxed and ALOT more empty then the weekend was. Ethan got his face painted and Caleb got a Character drawn and we met Elmo and Cookie monster!

Now day 6 we headed back to Hollywood to see Universal Studios. This was GREAT but I recomend not to bring kids under 8 here as it is more adult tilted. Yes we met Sponge bob, Dora, Curious george, Shrek, Donkey and more but apart from Georges playland there is nothing for the kids. Andy and I did manage to get them onto the Simpsons ride which was so cool you get kidnapped by Sideshow bob and Maggie eats you (you smell her mounth in all) is weird but awsome!, Shrek 4D was Amazing and the tour around the studio sets was cool. We got to see Desperate housewives well they were filming so it was awsome. We did go on scare night so they were putting scary decoration around the park but lucky for us the kids LOVED it! (think there freaks hahahaha). They all got there portraits done (watchout for pictures soon). and we all enjoyed the day, but again I would advise only going with older children.

Day 7 was our final day we went to Balboa park where we admired the museum of man, the touch and smell museum and many more. It was a short trip as we did have to jump on a plane to make it back to home sweet home! It was a nice visit though, shame we never had more time as it is definatly a place to spend a day. We fed squirrls, went for a walk, enjoyed free tours was just GREAT!
